MEPCO TOU Meter [Peak Hours] [Off-Peak] Savings & Bill Reduction
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has implemented a [Mepco TOU Meter] Time of Use metering system for MEPCO and other electricity distribution companies.
This system applies variable tariffs based on electricity demand at different times of the day. Consumers are charged higher rates during peak hours, when demand is high, and lower rates during off-peak hours, when demand is low.
MEPCO categorizes electricity consumption into Peak Hours and Off-Peak Hours, which vary by season. Since electricity demand fluctuates due to weather, temperature, and atmospheric changes, the TOU metering system is divided into four seasonal periods:
- December to February
- March to May
- June to August
- September to November

FAQs
What is MEPCO TOU Metering, and how does it work?
MEPCO’s Time of Use (TOU) metering charges different electricity rates based on the time of the day. Peak hours have higher rates due to high demand, while off-peak hours have lower rates, allowing consumers to save money by using electricity wisely.
How can I reduce my electricity bill with TOU Metering?
To lower your MEPCO bill, use heavy appliances like air conditioners, washing machines, and irons during off-peak hours when electricity is cheaper. Also, consider switching to energy-efficient appliances to further reduce consumption.
