Updated MEPCO Tariff Rates 2025 – Important Changes You Must Know

MEPCO tariff refers to the electricity unit rates, including all applicable taxes per unit. These rates vary based on consumer categories such as domestic, commercial, industrial, and agricultural users.

Additionally, unit rates depend on electricity consumption. Consumers with lower usage fall under a different category compared to those with higher consumption.

This classification is known as protected and non-protected users.In the following article, we will explain these categories and their respective tariff rates in detail.

Residential Mepco Tariff – Category A-1

In this category, we explain the per-unit rates for all domestic protected and non-protected consumers.

1. Residential Protected Consumer Tariff march 2025

The Government of Pakistan has defined six different protected consumer categories based on monthly electricity consumption:

  • 0 to 50 units
  • 51 to 100 units
  • 101 to 200 units
  • 201 to 300 units
  • 301 to 700 units
  • 701 and above

If your electricity consumption falls within these categories, you will be charged a lower tariff rate as a protected consumer. However, if you exceed 200 units, you will be classified as a non-protected consumer, and a different, usually higher, tariff rate will apply.

2. Residential NON Protected Consumer Tariff march 2025

If you consume more than 200 units, you will be classified under the non-protected tariff. Additionally, for the next six months, you will continue to be charged as a non-protected consumer, regardless of your monthly consumption during that period.

Commercial Tariff – Category A-2

This category applies to small shops, industries, and small businesses. A fixed meter rent of 1,000 PKR is charged to all commercial consumers. Additionally, a fixed per-unit rate is applicable to all users in this category.

These rates are uniform for all commercial consumers under this category.

Zero Units Consumed – Category A-3

This category applies to consumers who do not use any electricity during the month. A fixed charge is applied based on the consumer type.

  • Residential consumers are charged 175 to 350 PKR per month.
  • Commercial consumers are charged 1,400 (1000 fixed meter rent and 400 other taxes) PKR per month.

This fixed charge is applicable regardless of electricity usage.

Tariff Rates for Industrial Supply – Category B-1 to B-4

The MEPCO electricity tariff for industrial factories differs significantly from domestic and commercial tariffs due to their high power consumption. Industrial consumers typically use three-phase meter connections and are charged based on peak hours and off-peak hours usage.

Fixed Charges for Industrial Consumers

  • B-1: 5,000 PKR
  • B-2: 10,000 PKR
  • B-3: 50,000 PKR
  • B-4: 100,000 PKR

These charges apply to all industrial consumers based on their connection capacity and power consumption levels.

Agriculture Tariff Rates and Sanctioned Load

This category applies to tube wells used for agricultural purposes. There are two sanctioned load capacities for tube wells:

  • 25 kVA
  • 50 kVA

However, the per-unit rates remain the same for both capacities. Agricultural electricity rates are lower compared to commercial and industrial rates.

📌 Note: For Residential (C-1(i)) and Commercial (C-1(ii)) categories, a minimum bill of Rs. 50 per day applies. If no electricity is consumed, the minimum bill will be Rs. 500 for the entire supply duration.


Seasonal Industrial Supply mepco Tariff (Category D)

  • Consumers in this category will be charged 125% of the applicable industrial tariff.
  • Important: Consumers have the option to switch between the seasonal and regular industrial tariff. This choice can be made at the time of new connection or at the start of the season and remains valid for at least one year.
